This shot turned out perfectly compared to the script. The character is centred in frame and is in focus, we also used the shot type that we planned, which was a mid-shot. The way that the actor held the book in the actual shot is much better than the storyboard however and is more convincing. Furthermore, the colours in this shot are very complimentary which adds to the overall impact of the shot on the narrative. The protagonist appears isolated in the shot which is exactly what we were trying to achieve.
This is a shot of the notebook falling on the ground, which is used in the end sequence. The storyboard we made initially planned a ground level shot, however, when we tried this there was too much foliage in the foreground as well as uneven terrain. This means that we changed this shot to a low angle from a higher height. This, however, worked well and means that this shot between the start and end of the film show differences, which links to the developed narrative.
Initially, we planned to take this shot in a small abandoned building we found along the High Melton trail. However, due to floods we had to change our filming location as we would not be able to get to the original location. Moving location, we no longer had access to the shot that we initially wanted, although we got lucky with the foggy weather conditions and decided to go for this symmetrical path shot, as it has a similar effect.
If we were to shoot this again, we would probably do it in the original location to ensure that we can get the shot that we originally planned.
When the offline edit was complete, it was obvious to us that some shots needed to be shortened, some digital effects needed to be added as well as a range of audio sequences to create ambience, which the offline edit was lacking. We also saw various small changes that needed rectifying. For example, some shots were over-exposed, some under exposed as well as a few shaky shots that would need to be either fixed, re-filmed or removed.
